Glad everyone survived Snowpocalypse 2016 and made it out to the opening friendship tournament weekend. It was a great time seeing all the families out and a great opportunity for the girls to see some different faces on the other side of the net.
12u Shindig in Salem
This season thus far has been nothing short of this quote. After just few practices and mental training discussions our little sisters, AKA the 12’s, have already amazed us with their determination, coachability, and understanding of what it means to be a great teammate. At our first friendship tournament this past weekend we watched them fight for each point, shake off and learn from their errors, and most importantly come together as a team after every play. We are beyond excited to see what the future holds for these girls and grateful to be part of their journey.
14u Cheerful in Corvallis
14s had great day representing the Hiki-No culture this past weekend at the DSK Friendship tournament. The players focused on the WIN (What’s Important Now), which was to be a great team and teammates by: calling the ball, point-n-square, and M.C.C. (motivate, congratulate and celebrate). The players started the day being really quiet and shy but started to come out of their shell and get out of their comfort zone. We are looking forward to continuing to work on team development as well as technical skills/fundamentals as we head to Christmas break and get ready for the PL qualifier.
16u Compete in Corvallis
All 3 of our awesome 16’s teams had an opportunity to compete at the DSK invite this weekend! It was a great opportunity to play some ball and represent the club well. The 16’s have been talking a lot about “first contact” (Serve, serve receive & digging/defense) so far this season and that really showed on the court this weekend. 16’s are looking forward to another handful of trainings before enjoying the holidays!
18u Singing in Salem
It was a good positive outing, and gave us a chance to put the work being done in practice onto a competitive court and see where we stand. There were some good things, and other things we need to build on. Love the teamwork and the constant chatter on the court that is starting to develop. It’s a process and I think everyone is buying in and heading the right direction. This is just the beginning and we’re excited to see how far these girls will go this club season!
